Volunteering

This free, annual event is run and organised by hundreds of volunteers. We have no paid staff and rely ENTIRELY on the energy and goodwill of approximately 250 volunteers to pull off this amazing community event so … we always need volunteer organisers and stewards!

We can offer you a job to suit your needs. If trench digging for cables, litter picking or site decoration is your thing then we want to hear from you! Alternatively, if you would like to put your marketing, music technician or other hat on then feel free to contact us.

Everyone who does 4½ hours or more of volunteering during the Festival or the clean up day is given a free meal and drinks token. We always give our volunteers a talk on what you might be asked to do and we’ll give you a short Steward Briefing pack to remind you. We never send out volunteers on the site without training and we’re happy to answer questions if you need help. We employ trained security staff so volunteers never have to deal with awkward customers.

If you’d like to ‘get hands on’ and plan and run an activity at the Festival, we’d also love to hear from you! We won’t throw anyone in at the deep end without supervision or assistance but we are offering excellent opportunities for volunteers who want to spend some time getting practical experience in their chosen career path or who just want to do something stimulating and fun. References will be given to those who need them in the future. We’ll also be giving out Volunteering Certificates to those who want one.

If there is anything that you would like to see at the Festival and you would like to organise, get in touch with us with your ideas and we’ll see what we can do.

Current volunteering opportunities include: sound engineering, British Sign Language signing, lip speaking, data gathering, general admin, washing up, stage assistants, rigging, general stewarding, photography, sign writing, banner and stage back-drop making, site decoration, setting up the site, helping run activities at the Festival, making several solar powered and bike powered sound systems, running workshops and helping put up posters to publicise the event, making a mini display demonstrating how to promote biodiversity, sensory gardens, climate change arid loving plants and bog gardens.
