Childrens Area
This year’s Festival will be the most child-friendly ever with a wide range of activities for youngsters.
There’ll be dramatic and funny story telling performances from the amazing Viper Arts duo. With face painting sessions, games, nursery rhymes, dance and energetic workshop activities for kids there’ll be something for everyone! This year, for the first time ever, we'll be welcoming 'Jamboree' and their Sensory Tent, bringing the wonders of the sea to disabled children and their friends - complete with sand, water and mythical creatures! Come and listen to the sea or hear a song about you, feel pebbles and shells and the sea-spray on your skin. Watch as stories unfold and discover hidden treasure.
Natural England will be joining in the fun making fish kites, anemomy rings and lobster door plaques as part of their marine conservation campaign.
Meanwhile there’ll be a wide selection of stories brought to this fun-filled area by the Library bus.
For the more boisterous kids around, we’ll be welcoming back a manually powered fairground ride. Not only that, there’ll be break dancing lessons and the chance to make some dramatic canvas pictures using paint filled super-soakers!
