If the journey you need to make to get to the Festival is outside the city, Transport Direct may be able to help.  This site is a Government run scheme containing a searchable public-transport route-finder database and live travel information.

Another similar Government web site is Direct Gov.  This website has a journey planner database which can help you plan your journey by the quickest route via public transport and avoiding road works.  The journey planner also includes a section for travellers with disabilities.

A third option is to use the Traveline National Portal which holds a directory containing public transport information throughout the UK provided by local authorities and bus operators.

Nexus LinkUp is a bus service that you book like a taxi and is available to everyone in Tyne and Wear.  LinkUp provides journeys at times when regular services are not operating or where direct services are not available.  Nexus has created 16 areas throughout Tyne and Wear.  Passengers must call to book LinkUp for any journey that is within their operating area.

Nexus TaxiLink is a door to door service, using accessible taxis. The service has to be booked in advance.  To qualify for the TaxiLink you will have to be in receipt of one of the following:
• High Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance

In order to promote greener forms of transport and to reduce the environmental impact of the Festival, visitors are encouraged to use green forms of transport. We are therefore unable to provide any vehicle parking on site to visitors.

However, there will be a limited number of parking spaces to Blue Badge holders.
