Welcome to Newcastle Community Green Festival

The north’s biggest FREE environmental festival!

If you’re on the look out for a weekend of fun for all the family then look no further! Our weekend Festival is jam packed full of top class entertainments, workshops and music to suit all tastes and ages!
We combine wierd and high browed entertainment to spread the environmental message. From mad-cap bike powered music stages to a stylish Green Fashion show – we’ll have something for everyone!
Newcastle Green Festival supports the UN World Environment Day. Our aim is to promote positive solutions to environmental problems and raise awareness of green and ethical issues. This year’s UN World Environment Day message is: “CO2 Kick the habit – towards a low carbon economy”. With that in mind we’ll be dividing the site up into themes which explore how we can live in more environmentally friendly ways. We’ll also be putting into practice what we preach with renewably powered stages, recycling bins, vegetarian food and car-unfriendly policies.
The Festival takes place in the picturesque setting of Leazes Park which is a 5 minute walk from the city centre. In 2007, we had over 12,000 visitors. This year’s event will take place at the end of a week of celebrations to mark UN World Environment Day and will be held on the weekend of:

7th and 8th June 2008

Civil and military jet pollution is responsible for 10% of the earth's global warming . So, from an environmental perspective, its best to try to avoid flying.  However, if it is absolutely necessary for you to fly, then fly during the day.  Research has shown that night flights (whilst only representing a quarter of air traffic) are responsible for generating 60-80% of air flight emissions.
